1John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Something beautiful, tremendous and supernatural happens to you when you come to the realization of the fact that Jesus is God.

Your knowledge of the scriptures will not only change for good, your whole life and relationship with God will follow suit.

Unlike popular opinion make it seem, Jesus is not just a man like us who attained deity or became godlike as a result of his character or good works. No! He is the manifestation of God among men.

1Ti 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The real story goes like this…

For many generations, humanity has always tried to reach out to their creator (God) through several mediums of worship which they created for themselves.

Since these mediums (religions) are man-made, it had man-inspired doctrines (dogmas) and practices which only ended up misrepresenting God and His character.

They presented God to man as an inconsistent, unpredictable and unreliable holy dictator. He can decide to love you today and then change His mind to destroy you tomorrow. Just because He is God. He is unquestionable and so can do whatever He likes.

In fear (I mean dread here, not reverence), man trembled before God and always tried relating with him from afar. Of course, who would love relating with a God that can really torment your entire life even at the slightest provocation? A God who kills the old and young (including infants) whenever He is drunk with anger or simply feels like it. Without caring how anybody feels about it.

All these were rumours man consistently heard about God and upheld them as truth.

However, when the fullness of time (the time appointed of God) came, that same God whom man has always thought he knew, took on flesh as man, and manifested himself to man. This He did in order to show him who He really is, His character and person.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

1Timothy 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

He did this so that man’s knowledge of Him will no longer be based on what others (man, satan and angels) had said or demonstrated about Him, but on what Himself has both said and revealed about Himself.

That manifestation of God among men, that appearance of God with flesh as a man who lived and walked among men, is whom we call Jesus today.

Make no mistake about it, Jesus is God! Not His assistant or a smaller version of Him. He is God who took on flesh and appeared as a man to completely reveal everything about Himself (His character and person) to man.

Colossians 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Col 1:19  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.

The fullness of the Godhead finds residence and expression in His body. That expression of God is the revelation or the understanding of God that we have today when we take a real look at Jesus.

Matthew 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

1John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Jesus has given to us an understanding of God that is true so that we may truly know Him. And the only way this is possible is because Jesus is God!

In Jesus, we find a God who is eternally loving, eternally forgiving, heals, saves, restores, not pleased at the death of a sinner, touched to heart with our infirmities, cleanses, blesses and prospers us.

Through Him also we clearly see that certain things can never be termed the acts of God. Things like evil, calamities and destructions. If Jesus can never be associated with such, then God who Himself is the true creator of the universe can never be associated with such.

Again make no mistake about it, Jesus is God made manifest in the flesh. Not your regular kind of a man. He is the God-man. The God who became a man so we can have a true understanding of His person and character.

Anything we don’t find in Jesus does not exist in God!

Glory to His name. I hope this blesses you.

Lift up your hands and give Him praise.
