After Man's fall, God could have allowed us to utterly perish in our sins and still be “God” from eternity to eternity. Our absence wouldn’t have been enough to cause a single strand of hair to fall from His body (if He had one) let alone shake His entire being. He was complete in Himself, by Himself and for Himself.
He has never “needed” us nor anything that we could do for Him. He was, is and will ever remain God, self-sufficient in all ramifications.
But why did He come through for us knowing we had absolutely nothing within ourselves to offer Him? The answer is simple: LOVE.
The kind of love here is not just the usual kind of “unconditional love” traditional theology and religion would have us believe.
The kind they will say “God loves you” until you sin, make a mistake or do something the Law says you shouldn’t. And then the music changes. No, Friend. It’s not that kind at all.
God’s kind of love here is truly unconditional in every sense of the word, reckless, extravagant and infinitely incomprehensible.
John The Beloved, one of the apostles of Jesus, after beholding it screamed, “What manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us” (1 John 3:1)
The word “bestowed” there is the same as “awarded” or “gifted.” That is, this great love of God was actually awarded or gifted to us humans. We have never deserved it.
Paul the apostle explained this better in Romans 5:6-11
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
“And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
Take a closer look at that verse 6 again. You know, religion tells you “Heaven helps those who help themselves.” But that is not what we see in that verse 6.
That verse 6 tells you when we were unable to help ourselves (and even if we could help ourselves, we wouldn’t know how to do it), it was at this very moment that Christ came through to help us.
To further explain this great love that God has for us, verse 7 now tells you that it would be very very difficult to find a man who would be willing to die for another to live. Although if the person he wants to die for has been very good to him and the community in the past, then he may passively consider dying for him.
But God demonstrated how reckless, extravagant and incomprehensible his great love is towards man by coming to die for us when we were doing all manner of bad things without any form of remorse.
That is, we were not just sinning, we never gave a hoot about them. We didn’t care whether God exists or not. We never considered our actions to be bad to be sorry about them. We were that hardened, rebellious and completely useless to God.
But He still came through for us not considering the fact that we could reject mock and disdain His sacrifice for us.
I mean He could have considered we could even go on sinning even after His blood has washed us clean and aborted the plan to die for us. But he never did. If that is not mind-blowing to you, I wonder what is!
He loved you when you didn’t care, justified and saved you from the destruction or wrath that is to come upon sinners when you didn’t give a damn.
That is His kind of unconditional love, reckless, excess and beyond understanding.
Don’t let popular beliefs, religion or anyone make you believe less, this God loves you. He loves you too much to let you perish.
Believe in this great love friend, believe in His everlasting love for you.
He has loved me with an everlasting, extravagant and reckless love. Infinitely incomprehensible.
He loves you, He truly does.
